Optimal® FPoM: Hi-Voltage Pulsed Charging Source

image10221Optimal Energy Systems is currently designing and manufacturing flywheel based power systems that are being used by multiple agencies of the Department of Defense to provide pulses of energy for charging high voltage capacitors in mobile military systems.

These systems receive their energy from low voltage vehicle power (as low as 28 VDC) and provide output power at over 16,000 VDC without the need for DC-DC voltage conversion electronics. .tank3581

This energy conversion is accomplished through the use of the Optimal® patented ultra high-speed Flywheel Power Module (FPoM) technology. The company's technology advantages are protected by International as well as U.S. patents
As a result of its field demonstrated technical advantages, the Optimal ®FPoM is being deployed in the most demanding military vehicle environments by multiple agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Optimal® FPoM: Industrial Energy Management

image10231Optimal has leveraged the unique technology in the military Hi-Voltage Pulsed Charging Flywheel Power Module to offer a robust, reliable electrical network support system for multiple industrial applications.

These markets are characterized by requirements for continuous.wind898-150 high duty-cycle loading with high-
power requirements, and typically medium- to high-voltage environments.

Some of these market areas for the Optimal® Industrial Energy Management FPoM include:

  • Municipal electric rail traction systems voltage support and voltage regulation
  • Wind Energy power plants voltage and frequency regulation and utility integration
  • Heavy industrial utility customers with uniquely aggressive voltage and power load-leveling needs from high-voltage medical x-ray equipment, to steel mill electric arc furnaces.
